al-Shamail al-Muhammadiyya
Al-Shamail al-Muhammadiyya invites us to experience the most detailed and exquisite qualities of the Messenger – the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ. This knowledge fundamentally changes our understanding of the Message he brought. Knowing the Shama’il is one of the best ways to understand Islam in general and the life of the Prophet ﷺ (Sira) in particular; his good looks, lifestyle and character provide the right context for developing a deep, holistic appreciation of the Message and the Messenger at the same time. About the author
Imam Abu Isa Muhammad ibn Isa ibn Sawra al-Tirmidhi, may Allah be pleased with him, was born in 210 ah in Termez, Uzbekistan. He traveled far and wide in his search for the prophetic hadiths, telling of Imams’ al-Bukhari, Muslim, Abu Dawud, Qutayba ibn Sa’id and Muhammad ibn Basshar, among others. He was known for his piety, abstinence and remarkable memory. Among his famous works are Ash-Shama’il al-Muhammadiyya and Al-Jami’ al-Kabir, commonly known as Sunan al-Tirmidhi. Imam Abu Isa al-Tirmidhi died in 297 AH.
